The Lounge Ax, Revealed

I write a series for Gapers Block where I look back at old music venues in Chicago. As a Chicago history nerd, I enjoy researching old haunts and learning why they closed down, whether it be from lack of funds or city bureaucracy. I recently took a look at the Lounge Ax, a dive bar/music club in Lincoln Park that attracted some great bands in its day, including Wilco, Yo La Tengo and The Jesus Lizard. Read the article here. I also have included two worthwhile YouTube clips to check out. One of the club as featured in the movie High Fidelity; the other of the Old 97’s playing “Over the Cliff.”
