Running Mix #1

I will be racing in a 5K later this month, so I have been running more as the weather has been finally getting warmer.  Although athletes debate the merits of running with music, I can’t train well without it.  Here is the latest running mix I created to get me moving.  I’ll post more in the coming weeks in hopes to inspire more people to workout.

Big Wave” by Jenny and Johnny  – lyrics about America’s love of credit set to sunny Californian harmonies
When I’m With You” by Best Coast  – the song builds in intensity, which I think makes it great for running
With Every Heartbeat” by Robyn (With Kleerup) – great pop anthem from a Swedish pop star
Rolling In the Deep” by ADELE – powerhouse dance-ballad from a great English singer
Baby Gets High” by Blake Babies – lo-fi rock that I like running to, strangely
Decent Days And Nights” by The Futureheads – a great rock song that sounds like something the Clash would have written
Swim Until You Can’t See Land” by Frightened Rabbit  – rock song about a broken heart from an up-and-coming Scottish band
People Got A Lotta Nerve” by Neko Case  – ex-Chicagoan Case sings about animal cruelty and makes me want to run away from whales really, really fast
I Pretend She’s You” by Scotland Yard Gospel Choir – narcissistic love song from an underrated Chicago band
Tell The World” by Vivian Girls – another lo-fi rock song from a solid indie band
Memphis” (Jeff Buckley Tribute) by PJ Harvey – pretty guitar ballad from an amazing English singer
Low Rising” by The Swell Season – very Van Morrison-esque song from Irish-Czech duo Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova
